His career begun with successful parts in Brighton Beach Memoirs, Torch Song Trilogy and On Golden Pond. In 2002, he found success on the big screen with Sweet Home Alabama. He said that memorizing the lines was difficult, but he enjoyed the benefits of hard work.

15 Panoz Esperante GT

This is one of the rarest cars in Patrick Dempsey’s collection. This model is hand-built in the US and some components, including the big and powerful V8 engine, came from the Corvette. The car looks eccentric from some angles, but the power is raw and the driving experience is visceral.

14 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwing

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwing is Patrick Dempsey’s daily driver. He says “It doesn’t alienate people; it brings people to have a great appreciation, no matter if it’s a little kid or an older woman or a guy, it doesn’t matter. People are drawn to the car and have a great appreciation for it.”

13 Jaguar XK120

Patrick Dempsey got this car while he still was on Grey’s Anatomy. Thanks to the rising popularity of the show he could afford a classic car. Interestingly, this car also launched its manufacturer to fame. The XK120 was a top sports car of the 50s that paved the way for other classic vehicles.

12 1963 Porsche 356

Patrick Dempsey got this car when he acted in the 1987 movie Can’t Buy Me Love. It was his daily driver for 16 years. The actor says he bought the car off the street from a woman who was doing the sound for the movie. He also said that the price was very low.

11 Lotus Exige S

The Lotus Exige S is created for the track, though Patrick Dempsey uses it as a daily driver. He says he is a true driving enthusiast. This car is a spartan version of the lightweight Lotus Elise, made to deliver as much feedback and performance as one can squeeze out of a 1.8L supercharger.

10 Jaguar E-Type Coupe

The Jaguar E-Type Coupe is an iconic vehicle that has “its well-earned place among the prettiest cars ever designed. Enzo Ferrari said himself, when the gorgeous Jag was first unveiled, that it was the most beautiful car he had ever seen. It seems like Patrick Dempsey agrees with Mr. Ferrari, having brought one into his own collection during his time on Grey’s Anatomy.”

9 Mercedes SL Roadster

Patrick Dempsey says that he has always felt that the Mercedes SL Roadster is the perfect car for him because he’s been connected to it. The actor loves its sophistication and elegance. He likes Italian cars in general, including the Maseratis of the 50s. He prefers classics to modern models.

8 Ferrari Daytona

Patrick Dempsey says the Ferrari Daytona is one of the worst cars he’s ever owned, but he loves it. The actor likes that it has a big V12 engine, but it doesn’t drive easily. There is no power steering or other basic comfort features. This is not something you can use as a daily driver.

7 1982 Porsche 911 SC

The 1982 Porsche 911 SC is one of a few cars in the actor’s collection that has been modified. It got a big 3.6L engine to improve response and increase torque. His model is more focused on power than on cruising and comfort. The exterior and interior designs haven’t been changed.

6 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

This is Patrick Dempsey’s another beloved daily driver. He used the car to escape the Hollywood Hills and cruise around Los Angeles. He says he loves the famed canyon roads. He also owns a newer 911 Targa that he uses more frequently. Nonetheless, his Porsche 911 GT3 RS is in pristine condition.

5 Porsche 911 Targa

Patrick Dempsey loves the Porsche 911 Targa because “it is instantly recognizable by its aluminum roll hoop and its incredibly complex folding-roof mechanism. It’s designed to offer open-top thrills without sacrificing interior space.” This modern throwback to classic cars replaced the Porsche GT3 RS as Patrick Dempsey’s favorite daily driver.

3 Porsche 911 RSR

Patrick Dempsey says that driving the 911 RSR is exciting and demanding at the same time. The car is very powerful, so he needs to be in good shape to put in consistent lap time. He loves the feedback and the balance of the car. It’s more precise than the road version of the 911.

2 Lola B12/87 Le Mans Prototype

With the Lola B12/87 Le Mans Prototype, Patrick Dempsey made his debut at Laguna Seca. This track-ready car feels intense with sharp braking and fast acceleration. The actor says it’s more dynamic than any other car he has ever driven. He is happy for an opportunity to race in a car like this one.

This Ferrari F430 GT2 was completed and delivered to Patrick Dempsey in 2006. This model raced at one event that year, at the International GT in Barcelona, where it placed 17th overall. Even though the actor likes his Porsches, the Ferrari was the car that started his passion for racing.
