Classic vehicles gather at Camra pub of the year The Bell, Aldworth

It was a glorious afternoon in the late summer sun today at an informal gathering of classic vehicles at The Bell, Aldworth, organised by Compton enthusiast George Simmonds.

Among the lovingly restored vehicles were Aldworth villager George Bucknell’s 1955 Land Rover – manufactured in Solihull and stripped down by George over 30 years, who ‘loves it to bits’ and is still in general use.

Tim Wale – from Tutts Clump Cider – drove his 1969 Nuffield 465 tractor into the car park – “We’ve had it three years and take it to rallies and shows – just for fun really”.

Nigel and Vivian Hodge’s 1957 Morris Oxford’s pick up truck, bought in 2013, took three years to bring it up to its present condition, and is till ongoing.

From four wheels to two and Richard Goss’ 1965 BSA B4055 90. Richard has had the bike for about 10 years, but his sister-in-law had it in the shed since 1972. It took about a year for Richard to rebuild it and now brings it out on “nice sunny days”.

Mike Mulholland’s immaculate 1960 Jaguar Mk 2 3.4-litre was bought by his grandfather from new.
