As it celebrates its corporate centennial this year, Mazda says it will offer a limited-edition 100th Anniversary Special Edition MX-5 Miata for the North American automotive market later this year.

“The 100th Anniversary Special Edition MX-5 Miata is available in either the RF (retractable fastback) or exclusive red soft top,” Mazda North American Operations said in its announcement.

Interior features red leather

“It will be offered in Snowflake White Pearl Mica premium exterior paint and accented by red styling features throughout.

“The front fender has a minimalist ‘100 Years 1920 – 2020’ badge while the wheel center caps feature the 100th Anniversary Special Logo in red and black. The red leather seats and red carpet add a level of sophistication while giving a nod to the two-tone R360 Coupe, Mazda’s first passenger car.”

The centennial-edition cars will be based on the 2020 MX-5 Grand Touring model.

Although the date of availability has not been announced, Mazda said the anniversary MX-5 with a 6-spped manual will be priced at $32,670 as a soft top and at $35,427 with the retractable roof. With an automatic transmission, the prices will be $33,195 and $35,750, respectively. Prices do not include destination and handling fees.
