A Bulgarian 3D artist shares his vision of a new SLR McLaren

We were blessed with cars since the late 19th century. Up to this point, we’ve had the pleasure of witnessing, touching, and even driving some epic stuff. We’ve also seen many epic comebacks and spiritual successors of legendary cars. With this in mind, the Mercedes SLR McLaren is one of those cars that, we think, deserves a reboot. Apparently, concept artist Georgi Bozhkov thinks the same, as he is introducing us to one of his latest works.
By now, most of us are well-acquainted with the design of current McLaren cars. But if you ever wondered how a modern-day front-engine McLaren might look like, then Bozhkov’s work gives you the answer. The way the artist played with the proportions of the McLaren design is extraordinary. It’s also proof that the design cues work even if you alter the layout of the entire car platform.
It seems Georgi had decided to take a McLaren 650S, split it in half and put a Mercedes SLR cockpit in the middle. We also see the subtle flying buttresses behind the rear quarter windows, reminiscing of some front-engine Ferrari models. The red color accentuates all the carbon-fiber trim, throughout the car’s exterior.
Although McLaren is not known for front-engine cars, we really wish they would, once again, collaborate with someone to make another super gran-tourer, like they did the SLR McLaren nearly 20 years ago. We really hope McLaren will take Georgi’s idea to heart and create something magnificent.
In the meantime, feast your eyes on the artist’s magnificent work. You might want to see the rest of his portfolio too, as he has let his imagination loose on various other exclusive vehicles.
