Veterans Day is Saturday, and several local organizations have events planned to thank and support those who have served.

The Downtown Vacaville Business Improvement District will host a public ceremony at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Veterans Memorial next to the pedestrian bridge near Davis and East Main streets, rain or shine.

The 30-minute ceremony includes veterans, city officials, downtown merchants, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and members of the community who gather to commemorate Veterans Day every year.

Local dignitaries will be on hand to speak and lay a wreath at the memorial.

This year, the wreath will be sponsored by Fox Real Estate Group, co-owned by Ed Rapisarda, a Vacaville native and Marine veteran.

At the Nut Tree Airport, veterans get to eat free at a brunch served from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Center for Freedom and Flight, 300 Airport County Road, Suite C4.

There will be vintage aircraft and a car display from the Solano Classic Car Club.

Tickets for civilian adults are $ 12. Kids 10 and under are $ 8.

In Fairfield, a ceremony of remembrance and patriotic concert, hosted by the Fairfield Main Street Association, begins at 10 a.m. at the Downtown Theatre, 1035 Texas St.

Wear your red, white and blue to watch the parade down Texas Street, which will start marching at 12:30 p.m.

This year’s parade theme is “With Respect, Honor and Gratitude.”

In addition to these community events, some local businesses are offering promotions for veterans.

5 Star Car Wash is once again giving free car washes to all military service personnel Saturday at both their locations, 520 Orange Drive, Vacaville, and 900 East Travis Blvd., Fairfield.
